Cupping Workshop
In this in-person workshop, you will learn the science, fundamentals, and benefits of cupping therapy as Certified Athletic Trainer and Exercise Recovery Specialist, Bri Garner and Certified Athletic Trainer, Chelsea Adams demonstrates and shares various techniques, core concepts, and client's case studies. The foundational knowledge that you will gain from this class will help to expand your therapeutic options and practice.
This course is intended to instruct professionals on releasing scar tissue and fascia adhesions, manage trigger points, improve circulation, relieve pain and promote mobility. Many clinical conditions may benefit from cupping as part of program design to improve functional outcomes.

COURSE GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this workshop, you will be able to;
- recognize the history and benefits of cupping therapy
- List indications, contraindications, and precautions for cupping therapy
- Identify the evidence-based research for cupping therapy
- Recognize the application of cupping therapy as part of program design
to treat a variety of clinical conditions to promote mobility and functional outcomes

Each day consists of audio and visual presentations, lectures, group discussion, and hands-on application of the treatments. Each student will perform the treatments. Students will receive a comprehensive file with lessons reviewed throughout this workshop.
All equipment and supplies are provided for the students use in lab.

OUTLINE
Day 1

Introduction, history of negative pressure cupping, theory, equipment safety and infection control

Evidence related to cupping therapy, precautions, indications and contraindications, and benefits

Myofascial release concepts, scar release

Applications of clinical cupping and demonstration

Cupping demo: upper body positioning & technique

Cupping interventions for specific conditions
Day 2

Cupping demo: lower body positioning & technique

Cupping interventions for specific conditions

Application for low back pain, ITB syndrome, tight hip flexors, hamstring strain, calf stiffness, plantar fasciitis

Review presentation with lab demos

Post-course exam and course evaluation

Criteria for Completion
A score of 70% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.
